Frequently Asked Questions

New Sitter Frequently Asked Questions

All of our sitters are required to have extensive experience in childcare. We require a minimum of 2, in home, childcare references. We have a 3-step interview and registration process, were we will learn information about you and your experience working with children. You are also required to pass a NCIC background check, and be certified in infant and child CPR.

We expect each of our sitters to be responsible, trustworthy and highly communicative at all times. We need to be 100% confident in you and have a great working relationship. If we are always on the same page and communicate well, we will be sure to have wonderful success working together. Each and every sitter is very important to the agency and we work hard to make sure that everyone is properly taken care of and therefore expect the same in return.

Our families book our sitters directly through the agency. We contact you for bookings and officially confirm them both through formal email confirmations and appointments entered in your own Artist Babysitting calendar. Each sitter and family is contracted to always go through the agency for bookings and are not allowed to book directly with each other. The frequency of our sitters bookings can vary. Much of it depends on the sitters availability and how often they are requested by families. Another factor can be the dedication of the sitter to their work and schedule. What you put in, is what you will get out!

We work very hard to make sure that our sitters are referred to the best matched families at all times. We use feedback, known family and sitter dynamic and overall skills and level of experience to make the decision on what sitters will be the best matches for what families. The great success in our matching comes from excellent communication and working well together to make sure that we have the best understanding of our sitters and families to know who will thrive best with each other!

Every sitter, family and schedule is different. Therefore, transparency and communication is essential to be sure that scheduling is successful for everyone. Generally each sitter is set up with a steady schedule for the week (minimum of 2-3 days a week). We will then add more bookings to this schedule from week to week depending on added availability. We are not an agency that allows for cancellations and inconsistent follow through from our sitters. Since we are working with children, we need to be sure that our sitters will follow through with their confirmed bookings. We communicate exactly what the expectations are for working with a family and decide together on that schedule and ability to commit to that schedule.

Artist Babysitting Agency supports our Sitters and their artistry 100%. We work hard to make sure that they feel supported to follow their dreams. If your artistry takes you out of town for a period of time, we will work together to make sure that the families you are working with are properly taken care during your absence. In order to do this, we expect immediate communication with change in your schedule so that we can successfully handle the situation.

Our Sitters will be paid their hourly rate directly by the families. We have an official confirmation that states the rate that will be paid for the booking so that both the families and the Sitters are always on the same page for what is owed for each booking. Families can pay Sitters in cash, check or charge (PayPal, Venmo, etc.). The agency takes a percentage of the hourly rate for each booking which is calculated and charged twice a month.

Our Sitters generally vary between $22 – $30 per hour. The elements that determine a Sitters hourly rate include, but are not limited to, the amount of children the Sitter is in charge of, the responsibilities of the Sitter within a booking, the Sitter's childcare experience and the overall dynamic of the family that the Sitter is booked with.
